Google Webmaster Tool \ Google Search Console

1-) What is it for?

Formerly Google Webmaster Tools, this is an interesting tool because it will allow you to have access to reports regrading how search engines perceive your website. This information will allow you to significantly improve your SEO.

Concretely it will allow you to follow your position on search engines through different information (evolution, backlinks, etc.), it will also identify the weaknesses of your site, so you can improve your site to improve your SEO and thus get better positioned on the search engines.

 

2-) create an account

Go to Google Search Console, tol register your site. You will then have to complete a few steps in order to verify your site ownership.

When you have added your site, Google will provide you with a code. This is the HTML tag. Copy the code and leave the window open.

3-) adding the code on WebSelf

Just go to your WebSelf site, then on the vertical management bar at the bottom left of the editor, click on the "Settings" tab. Then, click on the tab "Code and tracking", you will find at the top right the heading "Google for webmasters Tools ". You must add the code in quotation marks in the box provided for this purpose and do not forget to Save before leaving.

Go back to your Google Console account and click on the "Verify" link.

Once you've verified your site ownership, your site will appear in the Dashboard of your Google Search Console account, and you'll be able to add your sitemap.xml. A sitemap is used to indicate which pages of the website should be explored by Google's robots.
